Lok Sabha MP Smt Santosh Ahlawat Chief Guest JMA Pilani OUP India sponsored 10th Annual Day

Pilani is educationally considered as the oxford of Rajasthan by the nation and world at large for quality education and treated as the knowledge capital of Rajasthan. The Chief Guest well known social worker and Member of Parliament Lok Sabha Smt Santosh Ahlawat had a blend of traditional welcome with tilak – garland and the trumpeters from the brass band playing the welcome tune. After lamp lighting by the chief guest and other dignitaries, the onstage programs started with Saraswati vandana followed by the school orchestra presenting a wide variety of songs thus setting the mood for a great evening of celebrations. The welcome dance presented by LKG students was thoroughly enjoyed by the chief guest. 


Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan in the welcome address presented credentials of the chief guest and shared the academic as well as sports achievements of the school and the celebrations of various days of national and international importance. There was a loud round of applause when the Principal mentioned that two JMA students Miss Sonam Kataria and Miss Tamanna Sankla had taken admission in 2018 to one among the top ranking institution in India today Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS Pilani and two NCC cadets of the school Nishit Jhakodia and Priyank Gour have been selected for the prestigious Republic Day Camp RDC at Delhi in Jan 2019 in addition to NCC Cadet Anshu Dara who has been Selected for Chhatrapati Shivaji Trail Trek 2018.

The onstage cultural programs included classical fusion dance combining Bharatanatyam and Kathak; patriotic dance; sita swayamvar; skit on exam fever; ABCD; Pyare Panchi; aerobics; mime highlighting water conservation; comic dance and folk dances of different states like Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujrat, Haryana and Tamil Nadu. After giving prizes to various students for their achievements Chief Guest Smt Santosh Ahlawat congratulated JMA for its achievements and urged the students to bring more glory to their Alma mater. On behalf of the Institution, President Dr Suman Mishra honoured the Chief Guest with a shawl and a glittering memento. The supporting staff presented a surprise folk song which was appreciated by one and all. Dr Suman Mishra urged the students of JMA Pilani to take up Swachh Bharat as their karma yoga.

Best teacher awards went in Primary Section to Mrs Malini Goyal; in Middle Section to Mrs Laxmi Jangir, Mrs Preeti Gupta, Mrs Usha Sharma, and Mrs Sarita Bhatnagar; and for Senior Section sto Mr Anil Swami and Ms Kritika Mandad. The coordinator award in Primary category was bagged by Ms Priya Mishra, Middle category by Mrs Sushma Sharma and Senior category by Mrs Ritika Sherawat. Other awards for teachers included Ms Preeti Jakkhodia for Discipline, Mr Harish Parihar for Music and Mr Sunil Pareek for general administration. The awards for supporting staff went to Mrs Prabha, Mrs Sonu and Mr Vikesh for their ever smiling and never say no attitudes. 

The School toppers for Class 10 board exams Miss Khushi Gurah and Neha verma received laptops while the other topper Miss Ankita got a cash award. Toppers for Class 12 Board exams Nishita Tailor, Anchal Swami, Aakansha Sharma and Parul Dhand got cash awards. 

It is indeed a matter of great pride that the 1oth Annual Day of JMA Pilani has been sponsored by more than 100 year old Oxford University Press (OUP) India which has grown to be one of the largest publishers in the region, with a strong presence in India and the neighboring countries, including Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. OUP is a department of the University of Oxford furthers the University's objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide. OUP is the world’s largest university press with the widest global presence. It publishes in many countries, in more than 40 languages, and in a variety of formats – print and digital. OUP products cover an extremely broad academic and educational spectrum, and it aims to make content available to users in a format that suits them best. For the past several years, OUP India has been conducting regular Teacher Training Workshops at JMA Pilani.

The anchoring was done by students Nikita Verma, Harshita Saini, Hemant Kumar Chouhan and Arvind Sharma along with Ms Arti Kasiramka. Mrs Kavita Tiwari gave the welcome address and proposed vote of thanks. The program ended with National Anthem. When the celebrations ended, the students and parents of JMA who had come for the function left with beaming faces and pride that they were indeed part of an institution which is a shining jewel in the crown among the schools at Pilani.

Two JMA Pilani NCC Cadets selected for Republic Day Camp RDC

NCC (National Cadet Corps) is a national organization which has helped in inculcation in the cadets a spirits of courage, confidence, self-reliance, selfless service, a feeling of patriotism, faith in oneself, power of thought and adjustment which are essential to make the youth disciplined and dutiful.

NCC came into being by an Act of the Parliament Act No. XXXI of 1948 designated 'The National Cadet Corps Act 1948'. This Act with 13 clauses, prescribed the formation of the National Cadet Corps in India. Activities of NCC include Institutional Training, Camp Training, Annual Republic Day Camp (RDC), Prime Minister’s Rally, Attachment Training, social service and community development, Youth Exchange Program (YEP), Adventure Based Learning, Sports and Training of Trainers. 

Lead school in Pilani Smt Jamuna Mishra Academy JMA hosts 1RAJ(I)COY NCC (JD) Troop No 23/2 and presently has 50 cadets which includes 32 boys and 18 girls. Every week Tuesday and Thursday, the cadets undergo regular prescribed training activities from 3-5 PM. NCC cadets of JMA Pilani regularly participate in voluntary activities such as Swachh Bharat. Sponsored by the school for Human Resource Development; school staff Sri Vikas Sharma enrolled at Officers Training Academy OTA National Cadet Corps, Kamptee, Nagpur Maharashtra for course PRCN JD-171 and DC-34 from 02 July to 29 Sep 2018 of ARJUN COY and successfully completed the same. 

29 NCC Students (20 boys and 9 Girls) of JMA Pilani attended Combined Annual Training Camp CATC at Jhunjhunu accompanied by NCC incharge Sri Vikas Sharma and school staff Ms Suman and Ms Kritika from 22 Oct 2018 to 31 Oct 2018. From this camp, two cadets of JMA namely Nishit Jhakodia and Priyank Gour were selected for further training at Jaipur to attend the prestigious Republic Day Camp RDC at Delhi. They underwent CATC cum IGC at NCC Complex Jaipur during 27 Oct 2018 to 05 Nov 2018. At Jaipur NCC camp, Nishit Jhakodia also won gold medal for his performance. 

The Annual Republic Day Camp (RDC) which is held at Garrison Parade Ground, Delhi Cantonment every year from 01 Jan to 29 Jan. 2070 selected NCC cadets from all States and Union Territories attend the camp. This camp represents all parts of India and is a 'Mini India' in itself. The camp is normally inaugurated by the Vice President of India in the first week of January and culminates with the Prime Minister’s Rally on 28 January. It is a matter of great pride for a cadet to be selected to represent his / her state in the Republic Day Camp.

The music teacher of JMA Pilani Sri Harish Parihar had trained them in playing various musical instruments like harmonium, tabla, drums etc and both gave mesmerizing performances during their camp training. Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan with a beaming face said that NCC cadets Nishit Jhakodia and Priyank Gour indeed have brought not only glory for their Alma mater JMA Pilani but also for the state of Rajasthan.

JMA Pilani Rajasthan Celebrates 70th Republic Day with President of India Award winner ADM Shri Dinesh Chandra Bhargava as Chief Guest

Bright sunshine peeping in ushering in a pleasant weather at Pilani during peak winter was indeed a bonus which added to the enthusiasm of the students of JMA who ensured that the 70th Republic Day celebrations was observed with patriotic fervor, gaiety and enthusiasm. 

Pilani considered as Oasis in the desert state of Rajasthan is well known in India today for top ranking institutions like Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS Pilani as well as CSIR Laboratory CEERI, L.N. Birla Naturopathy & Yoga Kendra and globally renowned Birla Science Centre. This year is very special in the sense one of the NCC (1RAJ(I)COY NCC (JD) Troop No 23/2) students of JMA Pilani namely Nishit Jhakodia is marching at New Delhi Rajpath Republic Day Celebrations.


Though India became independent on 15 Aug 1947 it continued to follow the British drafted Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document with British Monarch as the head till the constitution of India was drafted and adopted on 26 Jan 1950 and declared to be a Republic. The main difference between Independence Day and Republic Day is that the former refers to the day a country has gained independence from the colonial rule or freed from the rule of another nation while the republic day refers to the day a country has become a republic. A republic refers to the form of government where the supreme power is held by its own people to elect their desired representatives as the leaders to rule the country.

Right from its inception, Smt Jamuna Mishra Academy – JMA Pilani popularly known as school with 100% Results, has embarked on a rich tradition of celebrating various days of national and international significance. The school which is one among the top ranking schools in Pilani today organized on 26 Jan 2019 a function to celebrate 70th Republic Day Celebrations with President of India award winner for census ADM - Additional District Magistrate (Retd) Shri Dinesh Chandra Bhargava RAS as Chief Guest. On arrival, the Chief Guest had a blend of traditional welcome with tilak and the trumpeters from the brass band playing the welcome tune. Following the Flag hoisting and Natinal Anthem, Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering giving his credentials and a to a thunderous round of applause said that apart from being a dedicated capable and highly respected administrator, Shri Dinesh Bhargavaji has always been a compassionate and empathetic social worker loved by public at large. 

After a group song packed with patriotism, the Chief Guest inspected the parade and took the salute. The JMA Pilani School girls band did a dazzling display of various formations and played several all time great tunes. The speech in Hindi titled ‘Veer Jawan’ by Class X student Arvind Sharma got a huge appreciation from the gathering. Prizes were distributed to toppers of first term examination from class 1-12 and medals / certificates to the band students. The Karate and Yoga display were done to perfection. 

The chief guest congratulated the school for being one of the most sought after schools in Pilani and had words of praise for the band display calling the performance as nothing less than the very best. He advised the students to give importance to Swachh Bharat for keeping the nation at large clean. 

With singing of Vande Mataram, when the 70th Republic Day celebrations at JMA ended, the students and teachers who attended the same left with beaming faces and feelings that they were indeed part of an institution which is a glittering jewel in the crown among various schools at Pilani Rajasthan. Shri Mahendra Kumar anchored the proceedings and proposed vote of thanks.

In the age group 12 – 15 with theme Save Earth, the first prize was bagged by Deepak Panwar (Class XI) of JMA Pilani, second prize by Divyanshu (Class VII) of Birla School and third prize by Kamal (Class VII) of CEERI Vidya Mandir.

JMA Pilani NCC Cadet Selected for Chhatrapati Shivaji Trail Trek 2018

Love for adventure is in the blood of every youth. Adventure activities play an important role in developing personality, courage, determination, team spirit, perseverance and hard work which is essential for leadership and character building. Adventure activities, therefore, form an important aspect of the National Cadet Corps NCC Training with primary aim to develop the personality of cadets and groom them into able leaders and informed citizens of our great nation.

The trek route covers Panhala Fort, Bambvade, Shahuwadi, Pandharpani, Pavankhind, Gajapur and Vishalgar Fort. 

It is indeed a matter of great pride that cadet from JMA Pilani which hosts 1RAJ(I)COY NCC (JD) Troop No 23/2 Anshu Dara has been selected for the 7 day camp scheduled during 28 Nov 2018 to 08 Dec 2018 commencing and ending on different dates for different batches. On hearing the news about his selection, highly excited Anshu Dara thanked Sri Vikas Sharma JMA NCC officer for training him and Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan for constantly motivating him to be a dreamer, performer and achiever.

he galaxy of luminaries born this date 14 November include Nobel laureate Sir Frederick Grant Banting (1891) who got the prize for medicine for discovering Insulin and thus making the day being observed as World Diabetes Day; Aditya Vikram Birla (1943) who boldly took the Birla industrial empire activities abroad across various nations; Composer, Key boardist, pianist, Music Maestro Yanni (1954) and last but not the least Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru (1889) the first Prime Minister of Independent India and thus making the day being observed as Children’s Day,

Nehru was an Indian nationalist leader and statesman who played a central role in the negotiations over Indian independence. He implemented moderate socialist economic reforms and committed India to a policy of industrialization. He was undoubtedly architect of modern India. sThe world at large believes that India today's Tryst with Destiny would have been different had the London educated barrister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who authored Discovery of India book not become Prime Minister when the country became independent in 1947.

The junior section students of the school assembled at the prayer hall in the main building of the school along with their teachers. President Dr Suman Mishra and Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan also graced the occasion. The children dressed colorfully danced to a mesmerizing welcome song and won thunderous round of applause. Class 10th RBSE 100% Results Reiterate JMA indeed Top Ranking Pilani School

JMA Pilani on 12 Jun 2018 organized a colourful function where the students had traditional welcome with tilak – garland and sweets. Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan congratulated all the students and wished them the very best in all their future endeavors. She also thanked the team of teachers and all staff of school for ensuring that the highest standards are maintained at all times and all parents for their wholehearted cooperation. UN International Day of Non-Violence 2018 Mahatma Gandhi 150 Jayanti Shastri Birthday Swachh Bharat Combo Celebrations at JMA Pilani

Who else but the Mahatma could have said "Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man." The very same Mahatma Gandhi in his book The Story of My Experiments with Truth, 1927 also had said “There are many causes I would die for. There is not a single cause I would kill for." 

The UN International Day of Non-Violence is marked on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence. The day also marks the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri who as Prime Minister led the country during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965 and gave the slogan of "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan" which became very popular and is remembered even today. 

Established in 2004, Smt Jamuna Mishra Academy - JMA Pilani which has a rich tradition of observing various days of national and international importance organized a colorful combo celebration on 02 Oct 2018 to mark the International Day of Non-Violence Gandhi – Shastri Jayanti and Swaach Bharat Abhiyan. 

Afer Principal Mrs Booma gave an overview of the significance of the day, student Arvind spoke on Gandhi while Ronaq spoke on Lal Bahadur Shastri. Many students from junior section who had come dressed up like Gandhi and Shastri were cheered by the entire audience. The celebrations included several patriotic songs and favorite bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi such as Vaisnav jan to and Raghupathi Raghav Rajaram. Following the Gandhi – Shastri Jayanti, students carried out cleaning up activities of the school and surroundings. 

Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan thanked the team of teachers for the excellent organization of the proceedings and urged the students to make Swachh Bharat as not a once in a year activity for photo finish operations but as a daily mission with passion.

JMA Pilani Participates in Environment and Sustainable Development themed TERI Green Olympiad 2018

 

The Energy and Resources Institute TERI was established in 1974 as an information centre on energy issues. However, over the following decades, it made a mark as a research institute, whose policy and technology solutions transformed people's lives and the environment.

TERI New Delhi is a leading think tank dedicated to conducting research for sustainable development of India and the Global South. TERI has also dedicated itself to the task of developing informed citizens by targeting children, as they are important stakeholders, holding the key to the future decision – making processes. 

Since 1999, TERI has been conducting the GREEN Olympiad in India and abroad – an environment examination for students to gauge their knowledge level on environment and related issues. The exam is conducted by Environment Education & Awareness Area (EEA) of TERI and attracts participation from school students across India and abroad. TERI's effort aligns well with the current school curriculum of various boards. Participation in the Green Olympiad is an excellent opportunity for students to test their environmental quotient and enhance their appreciation of their environment. 


The students of Class IV to X were eligible to participate in the Olympiad at various levels. In level 1, students from class IV and V would complete, while in level 2, students from classes VI, VII and VIII would complete. In case of level 3, the students of class IX and X would take part, as a senior group. Each level has 50 multiple choice questions, with no negative marking and the answers were to be indicated by darkening the appropriate oval with an HB pencil in the OMR sheet provided. The students have the option to write the one hour duration Olympiad in both English and Hindi. The theme decided for2018 Olympiad is “Environment and Sustainable Development.”

Established in 2004, Smt Jamuna Mishra Academy - JMA Pilani Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan said that the examination had challenging questions which truly assess environment-related sensitivity of the students and were well woven around environmental issues, with direct linkage to the school curriculum. From JMA, a total of 160 students took the examination on 07 Sep 2018. As per TERI, all participants would be receiving 'Certificate' of participation, merit or distinction depending on their individual performance; coordinating teachers would also be issued certificates and Schools / students who excel in this examination would also be felicitated.

JMA Pilani Hosts SQAY Martial Art Training Camp and National Selection

While the popularity of martial arts like karate, taekwondo, jiu jitsu and kickboxing are unquestionable, school children in many cities across the country are showing interest to learn new forms like wushu, kudo, silambam, penchak silat, sqay to name a few. 

Sqay is a government of India recognized course in martial arts, and has been included in the school curriculum by the School Games Federation of India. This form of martial art has originated in Kashmir and is fought by using a shield and stick. The attacks are made on heads and ribs using the stick, while the shield is used to guard oneself from the attacks. “The fighters can also make use of kicking as is done in Karate each round consists of two minutes of fight.


Sports give us a sense of identity and national pride. Smt Jamuna Mishra Academy – JMA Pilani established in 2004 gives equal importance to sports achievements apart from academic achievements. In Sep 2018, 63rd school level district ARCHERY competition at Khetri, Bhagyashree of class VI won the first position in under 17 category for girls. In 2011, JMA Pilani Student Vanam Sharma was the Jhunjhunu District Rajasthan Shot Put Discus Throw Champion

JMA Pilani is recipient of the Certificate of Appreciation for participating in the FICCI fitness365 AICPE event as a part of the organizers initiative to promote sports culture in India and to create awareness about the importance of Sports, Health, Fitness and Active Living so essential for building strong healthy and fit India. 

JMA Pilani hosted the SQAY martial art training camp and national selection during 26 – 28 Oct 2018. Close to 200 participants from different parts of Rajasthan took the training and 38 boys and 38 girls were finally selected for National level in different categories and age groups. The organizers were extremely happy with the facilities and infrastructure of JMA Pilani and had words of praise for Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan for extending wholehearted cooperation in making the event a grand success.

Rangoli Competition at JMA Pilani

There is so much geometry in Rangoli and one should not be surprised to hear new jargons like Rangometry. National Council of Teachers of Mathematics – NCTM Virginia USA, DePaul University Chicago USA etc are serious about teaching simple graph theory, Euler paths and circuits, numerical patterns, symmetry, and growing patterns through Rangoli which is also called Kolam in South India.

Diwali is just not a festival of lights and sounds and it includes colours in the form of clothes, sweets and above all Rangoli which is a timeless tradition that is followed all over India. A rangoli usually has a geometrical structure that is also symmetrical. The design patterns often consist of natural elements like animals, flowers, etc. In many cases, designs are passed down through generations with some of them being hundreds of years old. 


Jamuna Mishra Academy - JMA Pilani established in 2004 follows a rich tradition of celebrating various days of national and international significance. The school has four Houses namely Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Neptune for holding various competitions. Every year before Diwali, a Rangoli competition is held and the four houses put the best of their teamwork and creativity in making amazing designs. 

For 2018, the Rangoli competition was held on 03 Nov 2018 and the first position went to Mercury, second position to Neptune and third position to Venus.
